Attachment-Based Kindergarten
Closeness and Respect
Szumi-Szum Attachment-Based Kindergarten, where respect for the child is the foundation of every relationship. Our educators are guided by the principles of Maria Montessori, as well as the ideas of Attachment Parenting and Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
Montessori Education
Although Szumi-Szum is not a traditional Montessori kindergarten, elements of Montessori education are clearly visible in the orderly, minimalist environment and the selection of toys and educational materials. Montessori principles are also reflected in the organization of time, which allows space for independent work, and in the educators’ approach — following the children, stimulating their interests and imagination, helping them overcome challenges, and, above all, observing and giving them the opportunity to develop independence.
Attachment-Based Kindergarten (RB)
Following the principles of Attachment Parenting, we give children time and space to get to know themselves and each other. At Szumi-Szum Attachment-Based Kindergarten, children have the right to experience all emotions, make their own choices, and learn through experience. At the same time, we teach them to respect boundaries, especially those related to safety.
Healthy Relationships
Interpersonal skills are key to building strong relationships, and children develop them through daily interactions. We actively encourage young learners to form friendships and connect with other children. We also focus on nurturing children’s self-esteem and helping them balance caring for their own needs with being attentive to the needs of others. Our goal is for every child to feel valued as a member of the group and to engage in positive interactions with peers and adults. Children find in us attentive listeners and observers.
Each child is welcomed as a unique individual, and we strive to respect their world of personal experiences. We help children develop positive self-regard and confidence in their abilities alongside others.
Our students experience empathy firsthand, which in turn helps them develop their own capacity for empathy and the ability to forgive.
Nonviolent Communication (NVC)
We do not judge, apply pressure, or use rewards and punishments. We communicate using Nonviolent Communication (NVC). We support a child’s sense of safety and inner harmony by respecting all emotions and focusing attentively on their needs. By naming emotions, children learn to recognize their own feelings and those of others. Paying attention to universal needs helps them develop a deep understanding of the people around them and fosters invaluable inner coherence.
CLOSENESS
Being close to the child, listening attentively, treating them with respect and empathy. In our view, the most important element in early education is closeness in the relationship with the child. We draw on the principles of Attachment Parenting.
FOREST KINDERGARTEN
Our forest kindergartens are located near the Kabaty Forest Nature Reserve and within the Landscape Park, where children can fully satisfy their natural need for movement, outdoor play, contact with nature, and learning through exploration every day.
